AGH.. can't.. brain.. Just..
........I am just posting because I wanted to thank all of you DW watchers who are watching real time for being so, so, so discreet about spoilers and for screening so thoroughly. As a BBCA viewer, I am so, so, so grateful to go in unspoiled even weeks after the fact. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
The turtle has successfully figured out how to bask (and is looking a million percent better and happier), I have made lemon bars (from an excellent recipe), and now I think I need another. LOVE to you all --
Wait--which episode did you just see?
Cold Blood! And I desperately wanted to go trawling through the internet to see what was being said about the episode, but I know it's not safe because SO MANY DW watchers are already past the finale, now.
Haha, I didn't even know the finale had aired! I've seen episode 5x10, and I own 5x11 but haven't watched yet :)
I know, right? I didn't even think it was really going to happen, cause I thought surely I would have gotten a glimpse of a spoiler about this somewhere. (I'm still not sure I believe it will stay that way, but that's just personal speculation.)
Also: agreed on all points. There's no telling how much deus ex machina will kick in at any given point, on this show, and it's hard to trust any major event to stay.. well, evented, in any real way.
I'm not part of any comms and I'm steadfastly avoiding anything DW related other than the BBCA site which is mostly useless, so I'm less exposed than I might be, but .. y'know, sometimes show spoilers turn up in fricking news headlines. It can be very hard to avoid!
Yay basking turtle!
And woooooooooooooooo those lemon bars look good!
Turtle woo! He looks so, so, so much better. And he's swimming really vigorously (albeit bumping the side and scratching the glass rocks around a lot as he does) and all of that is clearing up his peeling wonderfully. Which is making the water get bad much more slowly (ditto on the glass rather than the gravel packed into the borrowed tank). It's so encouraging. I was worried about being able to give him a happy tank lie, and he seems so, so, so much happier, now.
Also, he's eating his greens, which is an improvement. He's absolutely shredded the plant I gave him. And he's... er, processing it better than the bites of fruit he clearly loved but which were clearly not the best thing for every day use. (But OH MY GOD did he love bits of cherries and plums! He seems to like red and pink--he chases a pink bendy straw if I drag it around the outside of the tank, too.)
Sorry, /turtle rambling. ^_^*
Those lemon bars are SO NUMMY. This is the second time I've made that recipe--it's the only recipe I've ever used to make lemon bars, actually--and I love it. I was about ready to eat the whole batch and it's taking serious effort to keep from wandering back and eating another quarter of the dish at a time.
The first time I made them I actually mixed coconut in with half of the batch, and it was also *very* nice.
My parents are watching Who on BBCA, so every time we have a Who discussion I first have to ask, "Wait, what episode are you on now?" and then readjust my mind accordingly to avoid spoiling them. (Although my Dad always asks for spoilers and I smugly say, "You'll find out" and generally act River Song-ish about my knowledge of the future.)
<3 <3 <3 I tend to ask for spoilers, too--with every hope I won't actually get any. (Maybe I'm pulling for cryptic hints? I'm not sure.) You are definitely a Wise oracle to not share your foreknowledge!!
My mom and I do that kind of thing when we're on the same book or show, too, but we're not very artful about it; we both tend to forget what order events happened in and try to orient ourselves to keep from spoiling, and that doesn't always go well--"Has she killed the guy yet?" "WHAT!?"
